triskelespirals:

𝓒anting his head ever so subtly to the side upon recognizing the brief stretch of silence between them, his eyes flickered observantly between the few signals the teen was subconciously sending him here. For even before he had chosen to verbally respond to him, Derek had known that the younger’s answer would be truthful. There were no upbeats of the heart, no nervous aversion of his gaze — just a plain curiosity that could likely be best explained with the sheer queerness of the request. In a modernized world such as this one, tales and legends from ages long past were steadily forgotten with each passing day, and the majority of the younger generation would rather tap away on their smartphones than spend some quality time reading a book. While the wolf couldn’t deny some of the perks it brought with it, he cherished his own knowledge just as much and he personally strived for a balance between the two. Granted, not always easy.

𝓟erhaps that explained why he held such an interest in the legends that surrounded La Push, particulary so since he could draw the connection between their traditions and shapeshifters — namely werewolves. But the few scattered bits and pieces one could find over the Internet were not sufficient enough to expand on, and as such he had come to the conclusion that it might be best to ask the residents themselves. While his plan hadn’t originally involved yet another teenager, he also did not care if he could answer him some of the questions that lingered on the tip of his tongue. Age — or so he found — hardly mattered in some situations.

     ❝𝓘t’s why I’m here.❞

𝓓erek evidently didn’t see a reason to beat around the bush. He wasn’t here to spend holidays on the beach or see for himself how rainy Forks truly was — and he was not enough of a social butterfly to delve into what other activities this place had to offer. His interest lay with others of his kind, but that fact was effectively concealed by pretending that it was merely a personal passion. While that wasn’t an entire lie — he really did like to read up on things and educate himself — it wasn’t the reason for his spontaneous approach. And honestly, this place wasn’t exactly what one could call a tourist magnet. Allowing himself to take on a nonchalant attitude, his pale irides returned to the teen in question, a neutral expression masking his thoughts.

❝𝓘 don’t know as much about the legends as I would like — but if you do, the names Utlapa and Taha Aki should ring a bell. Care to tell me what you know about them?❞

                                                                      ❝…❞

We all approach dissension with some measurable amount of apprehension–and most of us take to our oaths with a great deal trepidation and skepticism

Seth liked to think he was an honest boy–a faithful one at that–whose disquietude resided more with deciphering what was right and what was wrong, whether something–some action he’d taken–could be deemed dishonorable and negligent, or morally praiseworthy.

                                                                   ❝…….❞

In all secrets there lies a sort of guilt. In all of the people that hold secrets,an air of foreboding beckons them. However beautiful or joyful they may be in the face of their adversaries, however confident they might have been, spreading words of a classified and sensitive nature to those that were denoted as allies–there was a kind of ambivalence beneath it all–a malpractice that suggested ill-intent and a potential for treason and betrayal on all sides; for what good end they may be set to serve. Secrecy means a prevarication of all veracity–evasion–and evasion means a problem to the moral mind.

The Quileutes have been a small tribe from the beginning–thus resulting in the dire need to sustain a very fragile and precious culture. It was said that the resplendent powder of stardust and the contingency of magic ran abundantly through their veins; that they have always had magic in their blood. They were once great spirit warriors, shape shifters, that transformed into the vessel that holds the omnipotent force of the wolf.

The wolf, saliva accumulating in his jowls – and the blood of man dripping from his fangs.

❄ — A shepherd drives the wolf from the sheep–for which the sheep thank the shepherd as their liberator, while the wolf denounces him for the same act as the destroyer of liberty. Plainly, the sheep and the wolf are not agreed upon a definition of liberty.

The wolves–always had a very different idea of freedomerudition, and righteousness.

                                      ❝Utlapa was…. he was a warrior.❞

❝Each member of the tribe has—….an ability. Kind of.❞

                                                         ❝–Propensity ? ❞
                                     ❝…..I think that’s the word Harry used.❞
❝…the—‘ propensity ’ to use it. He was one of the warriors who fought with our chief, Chief Taha Aki. He thought that Taha Aki was not doing enough for the tribe–you know.❞

❝Like one of those friends who’s real selfish, and eats all the pizza at a party.❞
                                                          ❝But he wasn't ! ❞

                                                          ❝He was just—-❞
                                                        ❝—-Just jealous ! ❞

                                                       ❝….Utlapa, I mean.❞
❝He dreamed of taking Taha Aki’s place, he wanted to be Chief. but… that’s a hard position to take, you know.❞

                                                             ❝Really hard.❞
❝Utlapa wanted to take over all the other tribes near us, he wanted to conquer them

❝The Yakama, the Tsetsaut, the Haida, the GitxsanAll of them

                                                       ❝Taha Akithough–❞
                                                        ❝He wanted peace.❞

❝But one day, when they were in their spirit selves–their….warrior selves–Utlapa’s thoughts got out of control.❞

❝Taha Aki listened to them; he thought they were dangerous.❞
❝So after that, Utlapa ordered him to leave the tribe, and never return.❞
❝Utlapa left with anger–of course. I mean, who wouldn’t be ? I guess he deserved it, some people say so, anyway…❞
❝After all that, he wanted to prove himself.❞
                                                           ❝Get his revenge.❞

❝Within the following months, people say that it was– Aki’s last day  where Taha Aki left to perform his duty after leaving his body as a spirit of himself.❞
                                                             ❝His warrior self.❞
                                              ❝He left for the—-…the other world.❞
❝Taka Aki figured that Utlapa followed him, and found out again–that Utlapa was planning something.❞
                                                             ❝Something bad.❞
❝He tried to race back to his body, but realized that it was gone. Taha Aki followed his body down the mountain, up the river, through the forest, and through the wolves’ den.❞
                                          ❝They didn’t attack him, they knew him.❞
❝But Utlapa managed to get into it first. Taka Aki watched, and Utlapa became the chief.❞
